Joining the Upcycling Revolution: How Your Donations Help Our Community!

One of the many hidden gems in Bellingham is a warehouse just beyond the busy downtown streets. A bright window display with hand crafted garments welcomes shoppers into an expansive facility full of one-of-a-kind creations, bustling volunteers, and row after row of bins filled to the brim with fabric.

Ragfinery’s facility is a treasure trove for everyone, from the supporters of local artists to the artists themselves. Primarily volunteer led, their mission is to reduce textile waste and promote education on responsible and sustainable practices when buying and repurposing garments.

The front area of the building is home to their retail store. Here, you can find trendy items that have been donated, as well as original pieces made by local artists–many of them are volunteers and happy to chat with anyone coming in! This is also where the free bins are located–scrap fabric and other materials that anyone can use for their projects.

As you move deeper into the facility, you will find bins of items sorted by textile type and size. Customers can gather the materials they need and pay for them by the pound. This ensures maximum affordability for the consumer and allows them to get exactly what they need without excess.

Ragfinery also has a classroom that hosts workshops on sewing, mending, and other skills–they are currently working to re-open these events to the public, as education is one of their primary goals!

Labels is honored to work with Ragfinery in the mission towards a more sustainable world–you can find them at 1421 North Forest Street or on their website at ragfinery.com!
